The maiden edition of Anambra Investment Summit Hosted by His Excellency Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo with the theme ” laying foundation for a prosperous and smart mega city which was held on the 7th of september 2023 at International Convention Center Awka Anambra State recorded a huge success
Potential investors, representatives from the government, private sectors, friends of the Environment, civil society, Environmental enthusiasts troop out-en-masse to the Environmental Solution booth which comprises of Anambra State Ministry Of Environment Awka (MOE), Anambra State Waste Management Agency (ASWAMA), Anambra State Erosion, water shed and climate change agency ( ANSEWCCA) to see, hear and partake in the Solution laid out plans in the Environment sector
It was an avenue to enlighten the public about the efforts of the soludo-led government in the Environment from inception till date, while opening the floor for potential partners to discuss the oppotunities in doing investments in the state and the challenges that needs to be addressed.
To buttress these points, Mr Commissioner for Environment Engr. Dr. Felix Odimegwu , M.D. Ansewcca Prof. Philip Phil-Eze, M.D Aswama Hon Mike Ifeanyi, Appointees of the Governor on Environment, Staffs from the States Environment sector, friends of the Environment were on ground to take our visitors down memory lane to were we are presently ” in the Environmental space”
Tree planting campaign, waste management, Erosion control works,Recycling and Upcycling (Waste to wealth), abbatoir, dump site and sewage management measures, Environmental health control measures, all Environmental managements projects, forestry and wildlife amongst others were the topic of discussion
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo pointed out that Anambra State is open for business and is eager to attract investors from all over the world.
“Anambra is ranked first out of the seventeen states in Southern Nigeria on ease of doing business and seventh out of 36 states in the country.
“Our biggest existential threat is the environment. We are planning towards a green, clean, and sustainable environment and having organized markets.
“We are the world’s capital of gully erosion and we are putting in a few billions to fix that. We have come with a comprehensive agenda and laws for the environment and we are waiting for the State House of Assembly to rescue our environment, the vision of a smart megacity is not just about infrastructure, but also about creating an ecosystem that uplifts and fosters prosperity using financial and non-financial capacities” he finalised.
